1 | Why did Paul and Barnabas disagree? | Acts 15:38 | Morant61 | 8381
Greetings Nolan! This is a very interesting study! I have often wondered if both Paul's and Barnabas's responses to John Mark were essential to his future ministry. Barnabas gave him the support that he needed, while Paul gave him the wake up call that he needed. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

2 | Why did Paul and Barnabas disagree? | Acts 15:38 | Makarios | 8405
Greetings Tim! Yes, I believe so! The Ryrie Expanded Edition Study Bible states, "Here is an example of separation because of personality or practicality, not doctrine, and it seemed to be the only solution to the problem. God brought good out of it in that two missionary teams were sent out, and Barnabas's continued interest in John Mark rescued him from possible uselessness." So as you have stated, Paul gave the 'wake-up' call to John Mark while Barnabas was there to encourage him in the faith.. Both of these influences helped John Mark to mature and grow in the faith, thereby reaping many blessings- continuing on in the ministry with Barnabas, becoming reconciled with and helping Paul (2 Tim 4:11), and eventually writing the Gospel of Mark! :) Blessings!
