1 | Forgiveness of What? | Acts 13:38 | LisaMarie | 23561
Wow! Excellent topic with many excellent points being made! Society has had such an awful impact on our "Christ Mind." Forgive, forget and LOVE! Modern psychology tells us that a thief can be rehabilitated but a pedophile cannot. Being "good Christians" would we leave a convicted pedophile with our child? I think that would be a very personal choice. I myself would not. "Lead me not into temptation." As for me, I need the reminders of my sins. I love them! They keep me from repeating the same stupid mistakes. I hug them to me and keep them close always. peace, lisa |

2 | Forgiveness of What? | Acts 13:38 | Reformer Joe | 24143
Lisa: I had a couple of questions about reading your post. Maybe you can help clear them up for me so I can get a better idea of where you are coming from. First, what did you mean in your first paragraph about a "Christ Mind"? Would you mind explaining what you mean by that term? I agree that compromise with society has led to a great deal of difficulty in the church, but I'd like to know what you mean here. Secondly, you quote "modern psychology." Are you quoting it approvingly or disapprovingly? Lastly, you claim that you need the reminders of your sins. What do you mean by the "reminders" of them? What exactly are you "hugging close to you"? God's commandments against sin? The sins themselves? It seems that a lot of the replies I have seen to this post are based on the understanding that your sins are friends to you. Is that what you meant? Thanks! --Joe! |

Hello Joe! "Christ Mind" is a term I picked up from a book cover. "Reflections on the Christ Mind." Though I did not read that particular book, the term stuck with me. As Christians, we read the words of Jesus and try to live as He taught. Live according to His will. This is what I mean when I use that term. I can't approve or disapprove of modern psychology. I brought it up because it affected my ability to forgive and forget. I admit, that it would ease my thoughts as far as forgiveness (as the Lord teaches) if psychologists could assure me a pedophile could be rehabilitated. But since they assure me one cannot? Have you ever read "God is Faithful" by Sheila Walsh? Excellent book. She states that one of the most difficult lessons every mother must learn is that our children are not "our" children. They belong to the Lord. So if the Lord deems a lesson to be learned BY my child - who am I to try to stop it? Am I making sense or confusing you further? Let me explain by saying, yesterday it was all so clear then this brilliant friend of mine said: "As long as we depend on reason to the exclusion of faith, Satan will always outwit us." No, I don't consider my sins friends. In my younger days I lived a pretty wild life. But it was empty without God. I do not want to go there again! I would LOVE to live a sinless life. But I fail miserably. I believe this is why Jesus teaches us to pray and pray always. Keeps our silly human minds focused on God and not transient needs. And I seem to commit the same sins! So by "hugging them to me" I mean I need to be reminded what I should NOT be doing. You know that whole, "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" cliche? I need a list of Things Lisa Should Not Do Today. What about you? How do you keep from sin? Peace and Love, Lisa |
