I was reading somewhere in the new testament the other day about David falling asleep (when he died) and that he had fulfilled what the Lord had wanted him to do in that generation. It was just a couple of verses and now I can't find it anywhere. Do you know what scripture it's in? | ||||||

Jessie, I realized that I had my online bible on my computer, so I got the correct reference for you! Acts 13:36-38, these are most likely the verses you're looking for, and they speak to the same intent that Peter spoke to in Acts 2:25-39. GOD bless!! chris |

Hi chris a, Thank you for these comparison verses. May I narrow them down a little to show you what was meaningful for me? Acts 2:28-31 compared to Acts 13:35b-37. Here is the bottom line. Acts 2:31, "...he [David] looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did (His) flesh suffer decay. [Lit, see corruption]. Acts 13:36,37, "For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers, and underwent decay; but He whom (God) raised did not undergo decay. [Lit. see corruption]. Parentheses mine for comparison. From the heart, Ray |
