1 | Are there any scriptures in the New Test | Acts 11:9 | melissanakley | 196247
In the Old Testament in the book of Lev. 11. It speaks of certain foods of all kind that we as christians (believers) were not suppose too eat. Is there any place in the new testament that informs us of any foods that we can or can not eat?
2 | Are there any scriptures in the New Test | Acts 11:9 | stjohn | 196248
Hi melissanakley, Welcome, Here is Jesus answering those that were criticizing His despises. "Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? "But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. "These are the things which defile the man;" Matt 15:17-20a Also in Acts it talks about eating; Acts 11:5-10 "I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object coming down like a great sheet lowered by four corners from the sky; and it came right down to me, and when I had fixed my gaze on it and was observing it I saw the four-footed animals of the earth and the wild beasts and the crawling creatures and the birds of the air. "I also heard a voice saying to me, 'Get up, Peter; kill and eat.' "But I said, 'By no means, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered my mouth.' "But a voice from heaven answered a second time, 'What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.' "This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into the sky. So you see the Lord told Peter in no uncertain terms that it doesn't mater what we eat. Of corse, we must be reasonable. ;-) I hope this helps God bless John |

3 | Are there any scriptures in the New Test | Acts 11:9 | azurelaw | 196255
Dear Brother John, Yes, we must be reasonable. You know, we (Chinese) almost eat anything. I remember when I was a little child, a close relative was very fond of eating dogs and cats which I felt horrible. He tried to reason his such behaviour with a Chinese saying "those with the back facing the sky are edible". I could not help to talk him back asking "Then do you eat people who are hunchbacked?" (that's what I could do at that age) - silence was the answer I received. Shalom Azure |

4 | Are there any scriptures in the New Test | Acts 11:9 | stjohn | 196260
Azure, At any age, not an answer you would expect from one who is, not thinking with an active and clear mind. Good thinking for a child, as the saying goes, from the mouthes of babes' comes the wisdom of the aged. perhaps their silence reveled your, childish wisdom? By the way, I hear although dog is, a bit greasy, the flavor is, surprisingly delicate.... Shalom Dear Sister |

Yes, Chinese say: even the Buddhists (I guess only the Chinese Buddhists) cannot resist the tempting flavour. :-) Shalom Azure Eph 2:3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. |
