1 | Born to be healed | John 9:3 | TerryM | 9647
In preparing for a sermon on our purpose in God's plan, the spirit lead me to John 9: 1-3. Jesus says that it was not the sin of this man nor his parents that caused his blindness, but so that that the works of God could be made manifest in him. This man was created blind so that he could come to Jesus and be healed. That was his purpose in the plan. That brings to mind my question. When we are created, we are given talents/gifts/abilities to accomplish the purpose that God has for us (Romans 12:6, Ephesians 4:7,12). But in creating us, does God also create our weakness? For example, the man born blind that Jesus healed, the person with addictions who later becomes a great deliverance minister, the person healed of a disease that leads others to Christ through his faith, etc. What are your thoughts on this? 2 | Born to be healed | John 9:3 | kalos | 9711
Terry: Yours is indeed a very interesting question and probably one that many people have wondered about. It is my understanding that every time a human is born into the world, it is not a new and direct act of creation by God. WE are not created. The only two people who ever were created are Adam and Eve. I hope this is at least a partial answer to your question. Grace to you, JVH0212 |

3 | I do not agree | John 9:3 | TerryM | 9790
I do not fully agree with you that we were not created by God. God may not have created us the way he created Adam and Eve, but I believe He has a hand in our creation. Acts 17:24 says "God made the world and all things therein". In verse 26 it says, "and hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth and hath determined the times before appointed and the bounds of their habitation". Jeremiah says the Lord came and told him that he knew him before he was formed in his mother's womb and He sanctified and appointed him a prophet unto all nations (Jeremiah 1:5). An angel of the Lord told Zacharias that his wife would have a child and what he would be like (Luke 1:13-17). So...doesn't God have a hand in our creation?? Terry |

4 | I do not agree | John 9:3 | Searcher56 | 9830
Terry, based on Psalm 139:13-16, I agree with JVH. The word created is the same as Gen 14:19, 22. But not the same as Gen 1:1, 22, 27. If you need the Hebrew words, let me know. God does have a hand in our creation, but it is not the same as when He created the world or Adam and Eve. He knit us together (Job 10:11). He is our Maker, that is why we need to kneel before Him, with our faces to the ground (Psa 95:6). We are fearfully and wonderfully made, even my daughther who has some developmental "delays". Now as far as your message, we need to know God made each of us and has given us children that we can handle ... for His glory, even if He does not heal them like this blind man. 5 | We are on the same page | John 9:3 | TerryM | 9899
OK...we are on the same page. I agree...God has a hand in our creation. When we are formed we are given certain abilities, talents, gifts, etc. to accomplish the purpose God has ordained for us. Now my question is, are our inabilities, inadequacies, deficienties, weaknesses, etc. also given to us? Do they play a part in God's plan? Terry |

Terry Absolutely God uses our weaknesses 1 Cor. 1:26-31 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; [27] but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, [28] and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, [29] so that no man may boast before God. [30] But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, [31] so that, just as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord." Many times it is our abilites and talents that get in the way. We think we can do it without God. Jesus told us in John 15:5 that we can do nothing without him. "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. You also asked did God create (excuse me had a hand in creating) our weaknesses I submit to you Exodus 4:11 The Lord said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Be Blessed and be a Blessing Ed |
