Dear Begbie, Lack of belief is not a matter of having a reason or an excuse. It is a matter of resisting the command of God (John 3:36). Hence, it is a moral problem, not an intellectual one. In Him, Doc |

3 | Unbelieve | John 8:47 | skccab | 191173
Hi Begbie, Doc, as usual, is absolutely right. Listen to him. But I think one reason (aside from his given) is that people think that it is a "religion" of have-to-do's and cannot-do's, a lot of legalism. They don't know the liberty that's found only in the Work of our Lord. And they don't know that Christianity is more a Relationship than a religion. If they could see that it is a very personal God that we worship, and a one on one relationship that we each have with Him as His children, they'd come running. Cheri |

4 | Unbelieve | John 8:47 | DocTrinsograce | 191196
Dear Cheri, Remember that people saw the Lord Jesus Himself, loving and ministering to people, and they still rejected Him. You have a perfect picture of people running to Him in John 6, but they did so in order to please themselves. Thus they openly demonstrated the god they really served. On the other topic: My pastor frequently points out, when it comes to the doctrine of justification, there are two common errors: On one hand, people assert that they must obey the moral law of God in order to merit salvation (legalism). On the other hand, there are those who assert that they are saved, so they don't need to obey the moral law of God (libertinism) at all. The truth is that we are saved by grace alone, thereby freed to obey the moral law of God. In Him, Doc |

5 | Unbelieve | John 8:47 | skccab | 191202
Amen! Brother, You say things so much better than I do. That's what I was trying to say. There is liberty in the Lord that only He can bring and what seems like do's and don't's to non-Christians are actually want to's and don't want to's by the work of the Holy Spirit. Like I said - you say it so much better :-). Nice to have you watching my back, brother. Cheri |
