1 | How is one true and one not true? | John 5:31 | Mommapbs | 165639
Could someone please explain how this verse compares to Jesus statement in John 8:14 "Even if I testify about Myself, My testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going." How is one testimony true and the other "not true"?
2 | How is one true and one not true? | John 5:31 | mark d seyler | 165640
Hi Momma, That's a good question! I understand John 5:31 to be true according to the Law: Deut 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. A single witness was not to be accepted. But in reality, Jesus' witness of Himself is true, because He is the Son of God. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |

3 | How is one true and one not true? | John 5:31 | Mommapbs | 165642
Hi Mark - thanks for the reply. God is truth, His word stands, amen. However, I suspect that there is something more here that I am missing. Jesus knew Who He was (is!) yet, to testify "alone" hints at Dt 17:6. So who might be considered to be the two or three witnesses to testify about Jesus? (His Diety - I'm reminded that the demons believe and tremble and also recall how He was acknowledged by the unclean spirit in Luke 4:33-34.) Blessings, mommapbs |
