1 | disciples only baptized not Jesus | John 3:26 | skccab | 193761
Doc, Were these disciples baptizing also in the name of the Holy Ghost (as He had not been given yet)? Or would you say that these baptisms were also just unto repentance, as John's? I hadn't thought about this before. Shalom Cheri |

Jesus Christ's earthly Ministry did not begin until John the Baptist was put in prison, Mk 1:14-15. In Jn 3:22-4:3, John the Baptist was not in prison yet and, therefore, Jesus Christ's earthly Ministry had not begun yet in Jn 3:22-4:3. After Jesus Christ began His Ministry, He told us all to "repent and believe" but there is nothing said about physical water baptisms because there weren't any during His entire earthly Ministry. Not until Ac 8; Ac 10 were there physical water baptisms for non-Jews before the believing Jews realized that non-Jews are also saved through repentance and faith that leads to obedience, Mk 1:14-15; Ac 11; Ac 15; etc. What did Peter remember in Ac 11? John baptized with water but Jesus Christ baptizes with God's Holy Spirit and this is the one baptism of 1Co 12:12-13; Eph 4:4-7; etc. And, Peter also remembered that we are not to call unclean or common what God has made clean. How? Read Jn 13-17.
