how is it determined that Jesus did not baptize anyone. In the NKJV the verse reads "And they came to John and said to him, "Rabbi He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified-behold, He is baptizing,and all are coming to Him! How do we arrive at the coclusion that only the disciples were baptizing? Is there a scriptural passages that denotes or states this for biblical fact or is this an interpretation derived from the Greek or Aramaic texts? | ||||||

Hi, Berean114... Again... Always interpret Scripture in the light of Scripture. See verse 2 of John 4. "Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John (although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples), he left Judea and departed again for Galilee." Doc, Were these disciples baptizing also in the name of the Holy Ghost (as He had not been given yet)? Or would you say that these baptisms were also just unto repentance, as John's? I hadn't thought about this before. Shalom Cheri |

Actually all baptism in water is unto repentance...It is Jesus who baptizes in the Holy Ghost (Mat 3:11), and as you say, the verses above were at a time before the Holy Ghost had been given. | ||||||
