1 | A Man In Need. | John 3:1 | Lourdes Figueroa | 62796
Nicodemus needed salvation, and this need is common to all men everywhere. All men need salvation, because according to God's Word, :all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23)
2 | A Man In Need. | John 3:1 | Robert Nicholson | 62803
Nicodemus by world standards was a good man, a teacher of the teachers and a searcher for the truth. I understand that as a Pharisee Phd. (so to speak) he would have memorized the first five books of the old testament along with many of the Psalms and Prophets. He believed in God and knew that God had promised a redeemer to his people. Nevertheless, Jesus points out his need "ye must be born again" As you have pointed out even Nicomdemus needed to be born again. To be born from above, it is a work of God which is received by faith. I love verse 16 which God has used to bring many people to Christ. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life." Robert |

Blessings to you and your wonderful family, Robert. Yes I agree with you and this is what I came up with. I. THE KIND OF MAN HE WAS. A. Religious: He was a Pharisee. He was a ritualist. Luke 18:12 B. He was a man that recognized the miralecs of Christ as being of God. John 3:2 C. He was a man that needed to be saved. John 3:3,4 II. WHAT CHRIST REVEALED TO THIS MAN. A. His need. To enter the Kingdom of God he must be born again. John 3:3,5,7 B. How this need could be met: The new birth was made possible by the water (Wor Of God) and the Spirit. John 3:5; Cp. 1 Peter 1:23; John 16:7-9 C. Why his need could be met. He led Nicodemus from the known to the unknown (The account of the brazen serpent Nicodemus knew well, for he was a master of Isreal. John 3:10) 1. He told him why the new birth was possible. John 3:14,15 2. Compare the brazen serpent and the death of Christ. Numbers 21:5-9. a. The Reason: SIN. Cp. Luke 19:10; Rom. 5:6,8 b. The Remedy: PROVIDED BY THE LORD. God's own Son is the ONLY REMEDY for sin. Acts 4:12; 1 John 5:12; John 3:36 c. The Reqyuirements: LOOK - Num. 21:8; BELIEVE ON CHRIST - JOhn 3:14 d. The Result: LIVED. 4 | A Man In Need. | John 3:1 | Robert Nicholson | 62830
Greetings brother Lourdes: Amen! "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the son of man be lifted up" John 3:14 "must be lifted up" It was imperative that the Lord Jesus be lifted up as the sin bearer upon the cross. There was no other choice! The serpent refers back to Gen. 3:14 and is a symbol of sin judged and the brass speaks of divine judgment. As you have mentioned this is a type of Christ bearing that awful load upon the cross. Think of the darkness and the cry of our redeemer "My God! My God! Why has thou forsaken me?" as God laid our sins upon him. Isaiah 53:5 Truly we can say "Man of sorrows what a name For the Son of God who came Ruined sinners to reclaim! Hallelujah! what a Saviour! Peace in his precious name Robert |
