Welcome to the Forum! This is a question that is often asked. You can go to the Search box and type in baptism and get a wide scope of answers. However, Baptism is an outward confession of inward Change. Jesus said we are to follow His leadership. Jesus was baptized as our example, in which we are to follow. I can not think of a reason that a true believer would not want to follow Jesus's example. When I hear of a believer who has had ample time to be baptized and just does'nt want to, then I have very serious doubts if the person is genuinely saved. There is no reason not to be baptized. I once baptized a lady who was near death, and she so wanted to be baptized. She had no peace until she was baptized. Because of her extreme Unique circumstances and physical condition I sprinkled her as a symbol of her desire to be obedient to the Lordship of Jesus in her life. She was very aware that baptism was being totally under the water. But she was willing to except sprinkling inplace of being fully under water. I was a Baptist Pastor and this caused some resentment from a few in the church I was postoring. I have never regreted doing this for one second. I sencerly hope this helps. Blessings Justme |
