1 | why doesnt god have the power? | John 3:16 | DANNYP | 150237
well Matt, there are two issues here. 1. What is your definition of hell? do you think that God with His infinite love would create a place where all His children would suffer eternally?? 2. Agency. God will not "make" anyone believe. He will help and try but he would never take away our agency. Infact there is a 3rd issue. do you think there will be a chance for those who didnt hear God's word in this life to accept Jesus Christ in the world to come? I do. I dont think that God would condemn His child just for not having a chance to recieve the gospel. I hope this shed alittle light. Danny |

Dear Danny, Regarding your point 1: God's children do not suffer eternally. However, those who are not His children will suffer eternally. Not all men are His children (1 John 3:10). Regarding your point 2: God does not "help and try." True, man is not hindered by God from believing. However, left to man's own agency, he will never choose God. Man is not ignorant, in need of a teacher. Man is not sick, in need of a physician. Man is dead, in need of a miracle! Here are some scriptures to consider: For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:29-31) "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him." (John 6:44a) And he said, "Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father." (John 6:65) But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13) And here are a few good quotes, as well: "If any man doth ascribe of salvation, even the very least, to the free will of man, he knoweth nothing of grace, and he hath not learnt Jesus Christ aright." --Martin Luther "To suppose that whatever God requireth of us that we have power of ourselves to do, is to make the cross and grace of Jesus Christ of none effect." --John Owen "Man is nothing: he hath a free will to go to hell, but none to go to heaven, till God worketh in him to will and to do His good pleasure." --George Whitefield "The greatest judgment which God Himself can, in this present life, inflict upon a man is, to leave him in the hand of his own boasted free-will." --Augustus Toplady "If the final decision for the salvation of fallen sinners were left in the hands of fallen sinners, we would despair all hope that anyone would be saved!" --R. C. Sproul Furthermore, the Scripture flatly denies that there is ANY other way to be saved than through Jesus Christ -- past, present, and future. Jesus saith unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me." (John 14:6) "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) In Him, Doc |

4 | why doesnt god have the power? | John 3:16 | DocTrinsograce | 150254
Dear Danny, Not sad at all! I love living in a world where God can and does accomplish everything that He wishes! I serve, adore, and delight in a God Who cannot be thwarted, impeded, interfered with, stymied, blocked, or prevented in the tiniest of details. "Where do you turn if you want to exult in that (the Sovereignty of God)? Answer, turn to the prophet Isaiah. What a vision of God he had! Chapters 43 and 44 are breathtaking in their boast of the absoluteness of God - I! I! I am He, and there is no other god, no other savior, no other rock! I! I! I am the LORD the Holy One of Israel! God's commitment to being God and being known as God is like a thunderclap in these chapters. "If you have found reconciliation with God through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, then the sheer God-ness of God - the bare, awesome reality that God is - is one of the most wonderful, staggering, and pleasant things in the world. Isaiah was simply ravished by the thought that God is God. And so am I. And I long to see education happen in our homes and in our church that leads to life-transforming exultation through Jesus Christ in the sheer fact that God is God. I love God. And I love to meditate on the nature of God. I cannot separate the delight I have in God as an infinitely holy and loving Being from the delight I have in Him as absolutely sovereign. His being God and His being sovereign are one." --John Piper In Him, Doc |

NO WE DONT LIVE IN A WORLD LIKE THAT. WHY WOULD GOD'S ANGER EVER BE KINDLED IF EVERYTHING WAS GOING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL? YOU AND I SIN. IS THAT WHAT GOD WANTS?? NO SOME PEOPLE WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ENTER INTO HIS PRESENCE AGAIN, IS THAT HIS WILL?? NO I WISH I DID EVERYTHING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, BUT I AM A MAN AND I AM NOT PERFECT YET SO WHEN WE SIN, DOC, WE ARE LIVING CONTRARY TO HIS WILL. DANNY P |
