I’m not sure what you meant by is "this" heart the heart of the gospels, there is nothing telling me what this is. So I will give a very brief answer. To me the heart of the gospels is John 3:16, but not because it is most people favorite passage. I feel it is the heart of the gospels because that is what Jesus was trying to get across to Nicodemus. Look a John chapter 3 close. Nicodemus comes to Jesus and proclaims Him of God and Jesus immediately starts to tell Nicodemus He must be born again. However Nicodemus doesn’t understand and speaks of a natural birth, so Jesus does what every good teacher does, He simplifies what He is saying. Yet Nicodemus still does not understand so in John 3:16 Jesus lowers it to the most simplified statement possible to help him understand and that is why I feel John 3:16 is the heart of the Gospels Now if your asking the heart of God commands that’s simple. Matt 22:36 ff "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And He said to him, "'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' "This is the great and foremost commandment. "The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets." I hope this helps, Peace to all this most Holy season! |
