1 | is selling in a church building fine? | John 2:13 | justme | 59250 | ||
Sir Pent:I see you have been on the Forun just over a year, that's good. I wish we had some info on you. I wonder if there are other ways to consoder churches allowing the selling of items in church? I have seen one church that sold donuts, pop, and other food items during church service. I was most uncomfortable with this to say the least. I think it was disrespectful, rude and distracting ot the worship time. Having said that, may I say something more respectful for all concerned. I have dry mouth, from the many medications I take. I have a spill resistant cup that I carry and drink as needed. Our church rents sapce from a senior citizen center. There is a coke machine in the back. Our church has three kinds of free coffee, tea, and some time pastries. Never are these sold, they are for relaxing and talk before the service. Our youth have aafter the service had a B B Q and sold hot dogs, handburgs and drinks, as a fund raiser. I have found nothing wrong with this way of doing fund drives for the youth, or refreshment before the service. This has been a very good way for people to come and fellowship before the service. I attended one church that had a Christian book sstore that was great! So I can see no harm in that, can you? Our church is contempoary and we have grown from a few to two services of about 100 each. We also have a pot luck once a month. I have been in a Baptist church most all my life. For the last three years we have made a change. We drive 1 hour plus a tole bridge each way to go to church and return home. For me and my family spiritual growth has been increased just by a more relaxed worship service. This does not mean everyone would enjoy this kind of church. I respect others who need a formal worship service. I am not too far from sixty and having been a pastor I find the change was a God send to us. So, I hope you widden you thinking just a bit. God bless. agape, justme |

Personal Note........................... Dear Justme, There is actually a great deal of information on me. Just click on my name to see what is available. Also, thanks for reminding me that my 1 year anniversary on the forum has just passed. I have been gone for a while due to frustrations with redundancy and lack of organization. However, I have recently felt led to return and ignore much of the chaff while just responding to the messages that are from people truly searching for answers. |
