1 | Supreme example of imitating God? | John 1:1 | Beverly Runion | 207026
How did Christ give us the supreme example of imitating God?
2 | Supreme example of imitating God? | John 1:1 | stjohn | 207027
Dear Beverly: Jesus Christ most definitely did not "imitate" God.... He was, and is, God. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." The verse above is referring to Jesus Christ. Verse 3 also shows Him very clearly as the creator of all things, which we can compare to, Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." I hope this helps you. John |

Thank you very much, brother, It seems to me though, this is just Bible 101. In spite of what I know the Bible teaches about unregenerate hearts being blind, It's still so hard for me to imagine anyone getting that one wrong! But, nonetheless, how easy it is, for the world to look right over the truth of just who Jesus Christ our Lord, really is. How evil is the heat of man that he will not see, indeed, refuses to see, that He, Jesus Christ, our Lord, our King, is very God of very God. Thanks Doc... God bless John |

Hi, John... That wasn't precisely what I was thinking. The tendency is to get focused on the question itself, rather than to think about its implications. At any rate, most of these sorts of questions, even when they seem basic, aren't the fault of the questioner. I remember reading that the Roman Catholic church insisted that it needed pictures and statues and the like was because the people were so woefully ignorant, they could understand nothing more. John Calvin responded to that by saying, if the church had been doing what it was supposed to be doing, the people would not be so ignorant. Asking a question about the nature of God is a very blessed thing, for that is the beginning of wisdom. It is the church that should be embarrassed for failing to properly instruct them. Many pulpits even teach that knowledge is bad thing! :-( The fallen human heart is most vividly seen in clinging to self uplifting teaching despite the clear doctrine of Scripture. In Him, Doc |
