Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher in 6 century B.C., stated that all of life is in a state of change. .. not in a chaos, not mere random chance. It is ordered change. .. This means there must be a divine "reason" or "word" that controls it. This is the logos, the word that John uses. Plato, we are told, said, "It may be that some day there will come forth from God a Word who will reveal all mysteries and make everything plain." Hi Twally, It appears to me that Plato needed to read and understand John 3:34 contrasted and compared to John 4:25. The witness is there for every man to see and hear, but John 3:32b says, "and no man receives His witness. He who receives His witness has set his seal to this, that God/ is true. For He whom God has sent speaks the words of (God); for He gives the *spirit without measure." At Jacob's well, John 4:25, "The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming, (He/who is called Christ); when that One comes, (He) will declare all things to us."" So I would say that Plato did not hear the words of (God)nor see that Jesus was the Expected One, the (Man) who would declare all things. He is the Word that "will reveal all mysteries and make everything plain", the quote you have attributed to Plato. This Word is a Man as I believe the woman at the well testified. John 4:28, "So the woman left here waterpot, and went into the city, and said to the men, "Come, see a Man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the (Christ), is it?" They went out of the city, and were coming to Him." We need also to come to Him for He gives the spiritual words that we need without measure; and He would also give us living water. John 4:10.
