1 | Who or what is the Tree of Life? | John 19:42 | Emmaus | 85475 | ||
Ernest, For us the cross of Christ is the Tree of Life. "Obedience to God permits us to partake of this Tree and enter in through the gates into the city." "He was obedient even unto death, death on a cross." Philippians 2:8 "Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise." Your citations apply very well to Christ crucified. Even the Garden imagery and Christ winning our way back into the garden applies. "Now in the place where He had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden was a new tomb." John 19:42 It seems highly unlikely that this imagery of the tree of life and the garden in the Gospel is merely coincidental. For more "tree" references see Acts 10:39, Gal 3:13, 1 Peter 2:24. What began at one tree by disobedience was undone at another tree by obedience. Jesus trusted in God, Adam did not. Emmaus |
