1 | Who or what is the Tree of Life? | John 19:42 | Emmaus | 85475
Ernest, For us the cross of Christ is the Tree of Life. "Obedience to God permits us to partake of this Tree and enter in through the gates into the city." "He was obedient even unto death, death on a cross." Philippians 2:8 "Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise." Your citations apply very well to Christ crucified. Even the Garden imagery and Christ winning our way back into the garden applies. "Now in the place where He had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden was a new tomb." John 19:42 It seems highly unlikely that this imagery of the tree of life and the garden in the Gospel is merely coincidental. For more "tree" references see Acts 10:39, Gal 3:13, 1 Peter 2:24. What began at one tree by disobedience was undone at another tree by obedience. Jesus trusted in God, Adam did not. Emmaus |

Thanks Emmaus. For other tree ref. Ps.1 and Isa.55 I also think it is a literal tree. I would think Adam and Eve were literal weren't they? Jesus spoke of them. |

4 | Archangels... who are they? | John 19:42 | Earnest | 85520
Emmaus Thanks for the comments. I'm also receiving feedback at another BB, and there's been a case made for Paradise not being on earth, as Cherubim (eg the one with the flaming sword) do not dwell on earth. Can you tell me if Lucifer Michael and Gabriel were not all archangels? The Word says that directly of Michael, Gabriel is described as a man and Lucifer a cherub. |

5 | Archangels... who are they? | John 19:42 | Emmaus | 85524
Ernest, Gabriel is mentioned in Daniel 8:16; Luke 1:19, 26. Michael is mentioned in Daniel 10:13,21, 12:1; Jude 9 (where he iis described a s an archangel); Revelation 12:7. Lucifer is mention in Isaiah 14:12. Satan is mentioned numerous times including Luke 10:18. They are certainly angels, which translates as "messenger". Thir spiritual nature is not explicitly asserted but is implicit in the fact that they are described as coming and going from the heavenly court into and out of the earthly realm of mankind. As for Paradise, do you mean heaven rather than the Garden of Eden? The Garden of Eden was on Earth, Heaven is not. |

6 | How many paradises? | John 19:42 | Earnest | 85528
Is there more than one place described as Paradise? eg. a. Eden b. Lazarus and the rich man in Abraham's bosom in Hades c. The New Jerusalem d. The Third Heaven. Is there anything restricting cherubim (the unfallen ones) from ministering in the earth? |

7 | How many paradises? | John 19:42 | Mommapbs | 85555
See REv 2:7 for another reference. Re the angels of God - indeed they are ministering spirits to US - God's children. (Heb 1:13-14) Yet according to Daniel 10, their service can be interrupted. We must be mindful of the spiritual battle that rages in our midst.(Eph 6:12) I believe that it is important to keep our eyes on Jesus only, do not render worship to any created being. mommapbs |

8 | Classes of angels | John 19:42 | Earnest | 85648
Mommapbs QUOTE I believe that it is important to keep our eyes on Jesus only, do not render worship to any created being.END QUOTE Amen! However, what I would like to know is whether there is anywhere that says that Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer were all archangels (or the same class of angel) and if there is any restriction on a cherubim ministering in the earth? Why I ask is because someone has argued that the cherubim with the flaming sword was not on earth (re:Eden) because cherubim are found in God's throne room. |

Here is a little information I found in Dake's Annotated Bible. Be a Berean. Just because someone wrote it in a Bible doesn't make it true. Let the Holy Spirit be you teacher. This will probably take two posts. Asis Psalm 104:4 a [angels spirits] The Spirit World The word "spirit" is found 551 times in Scripture. From these references, the 297 times "angel" is found, and from over 20,000 others about God who is a spirit being, we learn all there is to know about the spirit world—all the various kinds of spirit beings that inhabit the unseen material worlds in space and under the earth (Phil. 2:10; Rev. 5:3,13). Ten Kinds of Spirit Beings Besides God: 1. Seraphim (Isaiah 6:1-7) 2. Cherubim (Genesis 3:24; Ezekiel 1:5-28; Ezekiel 8:1-4; Ezekiel 10:1-22) 3. Zoa, or Living Creatures (Rev. 4:6-5:14; Rev. 6:1-8; Rev. 7:11; Rev. 14:3,9-11; Rev. 15:7; Rev. 19:4) 4. Spirit animals shaped like the fleshly ones we have on earth (2 Kings 2:11-12; 2 Kings 6:13-17; Zech. 1:8-11; Zech. 6:1-8; Romans 1:20; 2 Cor. 12:1-4; Rev. 19:11-21) 5. Archangels, or chief angels who rule kingdoms and planets (Col. 1:15-18; 1 Thes. 4:16; Jude 1:9) (1) Michael, one of the chief princes, the prince of Israel (Daniel 10:13,21; Daniel 11:1; Daniel 12:1; 1 Thes. 4:16; Jude 1:9; Rev. 12:7-9) (2) Gabriel, who stands before God (Daniel 8:16-19; Daniel 9:20-23; Daniel 10:8-11:1; Luke 1:19,26) (3) Lucifer, the original ruler of the planet earth and present pseudo-ruler of man's dominion on earth (Isaiah 14:12-14; Ezekiel 28:11-17; Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 10:18; Ephes. 2:2; Rev. 12:7-9). See The Doctrine of Satan. (4) Unnamed princes of Persia and Grecia (Daniel 10:13-11:1; Rev. 11:7; Rev. 17:8) 6. Common angels (see notes below) 7. Demons (see note, §Psalm 106:37) 8. Demon locusts (Rev. 9:1-11) 9. Demon horsemen (Rev. 9:12-21) 10. The inner man, or soul and spirit of human beings (see Spirit). Definition and Usage of "Angel": The word literally means messenger and is used of Christ, angels, and people. 1. Christ, the second Person of the Trinity appeared to men as the messenger of God (1 Cor. 10:4,9; 1 Cor. 11:3). He is called: (1) The angel of God (Genesis 21:17; Genesis 31:11; Exodus 3:2; Judges 6:20; Judges 13:9; Acts 27:23) (2) The angel of the Lord (Genesis 16:7-11; Genesis 22:11,15; Exodus 14:19; Numbers 22:22-35; Judges 2:1,4; Judges 6:11-12,21-22; Judges 13:3-6,13-21; 2 Kings 1:3,15; 2 Kings 19:35; 1 Chron. 21:12-30; Psalm 34:7; Psalm 35:5-6; Isaiah 37:36; Zech. 1:9-19; Zech. 3:1-6; Zech. 12:8; Acts 7:30-38). In all other places where "the angel of the Lord" is found, the term refers to ordinary angels, as in Matthew 1:20,24; Matthew 2:13,19; Matthew 28:2-5; Luke 1:11-38; Luke 2:9-21; Acts 5:19; Acts 8:26; Acts 10:3; Acts 12:7-23. (3) His angel (Genesis 24:7,40; Exodus 23:20; Exodus 33:2; Numbers 20:16; 2 Chron. 32:21; Daniel 3:28; Daniel 6:22) (4) The angel (Genesis 48:16; Eccles. 5:6; Hosea 12:4) (5) Mine angel (Exodus 23:23; Exodus 32:34) (6) Angel of His presence (Isaiah 63:9) (7) Angel (Rev. 8:3-5; Rev. 10:1-11:3) 2. The word angel is used of common angels in Psalm 104:4. 3. It is used of men in Rev. 1:1,20; Rev. 2:1,8,12,18; Rev. 3:1,7,14; Rev. 19:9,10; Rev. 22:6-8,16. In other places it is nearly always clear that common angels who are spirit beings and heavenly creatures are referred to. End of part 1 |
