Hi, Colby... Lack of peace in the face of habitual sin is a gift of God. Sin is a heinous affront to a holy God, requiring nothing less than the death of His Son in our atonement. If you can be at peace with sin, then you should question your salvation. If you are a believer, however, the good news is that God's grace is sufficient to give you the power overcome sin. Might I commend you to the website: www.settingcaptivesfree.com The tutorials there may not be about the specific sin with which you are struggling, but they will guide you in the study of the Word of God to the end that you might be free. Thanks for the reply Doc, Do you think there could be more than "Black and White" Christianity? Are there "grey" areas in which we deal with as imperfect humans, or should it be as simple as "black and white"/"right or wrong" issues?
4 | Grey Areas? | John 16:8 | DocTrinsograce | 167694
Dear Colby, Yes... Christianity meets human beings right where they are, right in the midst of their need. However, habitual sin is not the hallmark of a Christian (see 1 John). Habitual sin offends a holy God, repudiating the work and word of Christ. On the other hand, the goal of the Holy Spirit in our life is to conform us to the image of Christ. This is called "progressive sanctification." It will be fully accomplished in glory. In Him, Doc |
