Scripture ... Acts 2:4, 38; 4:8, 31; 9:17; 13:9, 52; Eph 5:18 ... Jessyka, greetings and welcome to the SBF and more important the forever family of God. It is important to ask questions. It is alwatys important to check out whatever you read or hear against the Bible (Acts 17:11). Look at the context by reading the chapter before and after the verse(s) cited. Be willing to make adjustemts to what you think as you continue to study HIS WORD. There are some who equate receiving the Holy Spirit with as being filled with the Holy Spirit. Also, that you must speak in tongues. While Acts 2:4 does indicate they spoke in tongues after being filled with the Holy Spirit, the context shows it was a known tongue and I believe the different tongue groups were in different parts of the Temple. In Acts 2:38 we see receiving the Holy Spirit happens at the time we are saved. Note that we don’t see those who were saved spoke in tongues. However, there is no evidence of tongues after being filled with the Holy Spirit in Acts 4:8, 31; 9:17; 13:9, 52; Eph 5:18. Based on the Greek, I believe we receive the Holy Spirit once and can be filled by Him at different times. That is we use more of Him. It is important that we are continually filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 13:52). Ask Him every morning and during the day. Searcher |

Searcher, If you do what Acts 2:38 tells you. Then you would have no questions about what will happen when you receive the Holy Spirit. Even though Peter do not say or Luke did not record it. And you will know longer use the statement "what I believe". You will simply state, what is True. | ||||||
