1 | does the holy spirit dwell in us daily? | John 14:16 | james glenn | 166825
I have four questions: 1. According to the Genesis narrative after the fall of Adam. God said that His spirit will not always be with man. Question: Is the Holy Spirit according to the New Testament always with man? 2. Is the Holy Spirit in man or upon man, and what is the difference as it relates to Old Testament and New Testament scriptures (being upon and in). 3. Was Adam created like man today? 4. My Pastor made a comment at which he said there are no more Apostles or Prophets in this day and age. I think that is a false statement so what scriptures can you give to support his false statement. |

2 | does the holy spirit dwell in us daily? | John 14:16 | prayon | 166826
Greetings James Glenn and welcome to the forum! 1) According to John 14:16 Jesus said that He would give us a comforter and He would be with us forever. The Holy Spirit is that comforter. However, the Spirit is not with all men but only those who are believers according to John 14:17 ( The world cannot accept him, because it doesn't see or know him). 2) The Holy Spirit lives within us. We were not able to receive the Holy Spirit until Jesus sent Him to us at Pentecost. The Holy Spirit was with them in the OT but He lives in us now. 3) Adam was created in the image of God just as we are today. 4) First we must define what exactly a prophet is. According to Webster: PROPHET 1. One that foretells future events; a predicter; a foreteller. 2. In Scripture, a person illuminated, inspired or instructed by God to announce future events; as Moses, Elijah, David, Isaiah, ect. You are correct in saying that that is a false statement. The scripture reference is Acts 2:16-17: "In the last days, God says, I will pour my Spirit on everyone. Your sons and daughters will speak what God has revealed. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour my Spirit on my servants, on both men and women. They will speak what God has revealed." This scripture therefore clearly reveals that there will be prophets in the end times which is what we are in today. prayon |
