I have heard some of the best choirs in the world, witness pulpit hell fire preaching from some of the best charismatic preachers alive today, at the point of emotional elevation out of my pew seat, sometime the feeling joy would lasted for days or even weeks. Oh yeah, I have experience that ride, The Ride Of Joy, but after purchasing and reviewing cassettes tapes, and video of these religious events, in which I attended. Later through scriptures God would enlighten me to what really occurred at most of these events. It was part of an emotional theater not spiritual divine as portrayed, I was on a roll a coastal ride, and it did not coincide with the word of God. Therefore, after a few more days, utopia it wore off and the same feeling of emptiness’ returns, it’s like watching my favorite football team at the stadium and the game is over, feelings were very similar. These demonstrations of religious order without the true/real power God events can be devastating to the human psychic, because most of the inter action are constructed and conducted in our minds the battle ground of Satan, but the holy power of God is much more than our thought, ways and feelings, please pray for me, we need a break through.

Hi, Edd! Great post! You sure have hit the nail on the head! God is all about truth. Feelings come and go. The battle is to dig out the lie in our mind and to replace it with the truth of God. Thank you for your post! Since another person keeps posting catechism texts, I'll do the same with the readers kind permission. This is called the "Regulatory Principle." It is a principle that helps us decide what are the appropriate and right ways we ought to approach God in worship. "The light of nature shews that there is a God, who hath lordship and sovereignty over all; is just, good and doth good unto all; and is therefore to be feared, loved, praised, called upon, trusted in, and served, with all the heart and all the soul, and with all the might. But the acceptable way of worshipping the true God, is instituted by himself, and so limited by his own revealed will, that he may not be worshipped according to the imagination and devices of men, nor the suggestions of Satan, under any visible representations, or any other way not prescribed in the Holy Scriptures." (Jer 10:7; Mark 12:33; Deu 12:32; Ex 20:4-6) (If folks are interested, I can define some of these terms and phrases.) Look up these scriptures... they're great! Edd: Just walk in the truth of the Word... it doesn't matter what you see, hear, feel, etc. God's truth is far more sure than any sensation, no matter how strong that sensation! Our experiences do not define truth... God defines truth. We'll be praying for you, brother! |

Well said Doc We cannot rely on our feelings. With that said I think I know what Edd is talking about , I think what he is refering to is that when he leaves a time of corporate worship he wants to know that he has met with God. I think this is a longing all of share. I to have felt the f;ustration that Edd speaks of then I really read the first two chapters of the book of acts and real meditate on what is there with this in mind and speeped in prayer we looked for a group of belivers who shared this same passion The Lord did provid and now we do have a real time of worship together with other belivers. I belive that a big part of this comes from the small groups we have that meet in homes. People are more themselves in this setting and we really seek God in prayer and through the stidy of His Word. Yes Edd I will be lifting you up in prayer. I hope some of my rambling helps. In The Love Of Christ, tgc
