1 | Are we gods? | John 10:34 | BradK | 127527
DBR, You write that "Satan offered Eve the chance to become a Goddess"? Where does scripture say so? It doesn't. Genesis 3:5 says "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." It's important to say what scripture says, not what we believe it to or want it to say. They were tempted and fell as a result of sin,(vs. 7) believing Satan's lie instead of God's command. You have answer your own comment "Like God," a goddess, independant for her creator. "goddess n. 1 female deity. 2 adored woman."-Oxford Dic. "deity n. (pl. -ies) 1 god or goddess. 2 divine status or nature. 3 (the Deity) God. [French from Church Latin]."-Oxford Dic. DBR |

DBR, I'm not one to argue semantics, so I'm not. What you stated was that "Satan offered Eve the chance to be a Godess". Scripture nowhere says this, my friend! It is speculation since the bible neither says it nor were we there:-) To be "like" something is not the same a being it. A Photograph is a likenes, or representation of the reality it images. It is not the same thing. Further, the Hebrew "tselem" means form, image or likeness. So, I'm not answering my own comment, but rather seeking further clarification from you on what you stated! 4 | Are we gods? | John 10:34 | DBR | 127558
Well Adam and Eve should have remained obeying their Creator, God, to whom they should have looked to in making any decisions as to what was good or bad, He should have remained their only guide in there life, which he was for a time. Then Satan set himself up as a (false) God, he wanted their obedience:- 2 Cor 4:4 "In whom the god (Satan The Devil) of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." And Eve listened to his evil ideas instead of her Creators, so Satan then became her God because of her obedience to him etc.. Now to Adam, he should have listened to His God and Father so as to obey his God, or we can say obey His rule as God and Creator. Adam decided to OBEY someone else:- Gen 3:17 "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;" So Adam now also shifted his allegiance to Satan via His wife so as he listened to his wife’s voice and not that of his maker, she then became a substitute for God The Father as Adam obeyed Her now. So we now have a matriarchal system of rule by Adams consent thus she became his ruler in place God his maker to whom he owed ALL allegiance, he followed her decisions of what was Good or Bad, as she made the decision to obey the serpent thus making herself a substitute for God the creator, She became Adam’s God as he obeyed her instead of God the Father e.g. the false religious leaders in Jesus made Satan the "Father" and God as they obeyed him by doing things his way, as Jesus pointed out, John 8:44 “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” Much the Same in the Garden in Eden as this is where false religion first started by changing of obedance from the true God to a self made gods, 1st Satan then Eve as she now made the deisions of what was to be right and wrong instead of The Father in essence she supplanted the Father for Adam, but as we now know under the influence of the Devil who had by their own choice become their father, thus the start of false religion and false gods. Hello DBR, I've started reading this thread, and that response doesn't really answer anything for me. You need to show that Satan offered Eve the chance to become a Goddess. Whether or not Adam placed her before God is another issue. What offer was made? It was the knowledge of good and evil. God had it, and Eve could have it. Steve |
