1 | Father | John 10:29 | Searcher56 | 11138 | ||
Isa, Because Jesus was a man, the Father was greater and as a man he was in a lower position. -He was "made for a little while lower than the angels" (Heb 2:9). -Jesus "emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men" (Phi 2:5-8). -He had added to Himself human nature (Col. 2:9). Jesus has two natures. Jesus never denied that He was God. Here He was merely acknowledging the fact that He was also a man. Jesus is both God and man. As a man, he was in a lesser position than the Father. He became a man to die for people. Steve |

How can he be both God and Man? That seems to defy logic. When did he stop being "son of man" and start being "son of God"? Did God enter his body at a certain moment and he became divine? Thanks Steve, Isa |

Dear Isa, Colossians 2:9 tells us, "For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form," This verse is clearly referring to Jesus Christ in its context in the Bible. So how could He be both God and Man? Yes, this does seem to defy logic! :) God came to earth in the body of a man, and He was tempted in every way that every man is tempted, but He did not sin! However, every human being has sinned (Romans 3:23). Would you agree, Isa? However, Jesus was both fully Man and fully God and He never sinned! (2 Cor. 5:21) Never did Jesus 'lose' or 'regain' his Divinity as God, but he took on the body of a man, being born of a virgin, and temporarily being subjected to torture and disgrace so that we may obtain justification before God for our sins, and have a way to be made right with him. Isa, only a 'perfect sacrifice' (Jesus, who knew no sin) was acceptable to God! Jesus took the sins of the whole world upon His shoulders and paid the price for all of us to receive salvation if we believe that He was the Son of God and was risen from the dead! And there is nothing that you can "do" to achieve salvation. If you confess with your mouth that "Jesus is Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, then you will be saved!
