Hi, Budderfligh... Of course, you wouldn't want to know what it means to us... what you want to know is what it means. A proper interpretation of the Scripture is not a matter of individual interpretation. Walter Chantry has an very good article on this topic: http://www.reformedreader.org/rbb/chantry/takeyourcrossenglish.htm In Him, Doc |

3 | take up "his" cross | Luke 9:23 | budderfligh | 200106
Hello Doc, Thank you for giving me the link to a most beautiful article. I believe that this idea of taking up one's cross is lost in much of today's feel good preaching and teaching and the article by Chantry makes many fine points, many of which are,in my opinion, the author's personal inerpretation. I suppose what I am really driving at is the thought that "my cross" might not be the same as "your cross". I take this verse very personally and just wondered if others felt the same as I. Again, thanks for the beautiful article. God's blessings, budderfligh |

Ah! Well, then, you are talking about application, not interpretation. Any given Scripture has only a single interpretation, but there are many, many applications. Your cross and my cross are not necessarily the same. Yet sometimes they are very much alike. You are correct, that many teach today a faith without crosses and without costs.
