I am trying to find out the year that Jesus was born. Someone told me the other day that AD and BC did not mean what I thought they meant and that Jesus could have been born BC 3. Can that be true? If so, then BC does not mean Before Christ Thanks for your help. |

Hi Becky, I hope I can make this answer seem obvious to you after you understand the logics of what I am saying. Most theologians believe our calerder year is off by a few years one way or the other. I don't except that in the last 1,970 years we skipped some or added some, because it's not logical that everyone skipped or added at the same time or at least by the same amounts. That being said, let's imagine that we are not off by any years. The birth of Jesus Christ was the begining of all things being made new and the year is counted as 0 (zero) A.D. (Anno Dinimn) which is greek for "the year of our Lord" and B.C. does mean "before Christ". Many people think A.D. is after death ... if this were the case the term would have only been valid for 3 days. The death that began a new calculation of time was the death of the world By the Birth of our Savior. The crucifixion of Jesus took place in the year 33 A.D. The fact is that the world died at his birth because, no longer can a man make an offering of attonment for sin. from now on the only wat into heaven was the blood of Christ. so .. Heaven is not the same ... and earth is not the same. |
