1 | Comma placement: pre-or post-"today"? | Luke 23:43 | Pudge | 64878
My understanding of the Bible is that no commas were in the original biblical languages. If so, then the placement of commas was the choice of the translators. Jesus didn't rise from the dead until the first day of the week. What is it about the wording of this verse that makes the placement of the comma more appropriate before "today" than after it? Did the thief make it to heaven before his Saviour?
2 | Comma placement: pre-or post-"today"? | Luke 23:43 | EdB | 64880
Pudge The paradise Jesus was talking about was Abraham's bosom or the nice side of Hades. You can read about this in Luke 16:19-31. It was there the Jesus and the thief went upon death, Jesus apparently preceded the thief, and where Jesus preached the Good News and lead captivity captive to heaven. The placement of the comma while changing the reading the sentence does not effect the results. The Jesus the thief were united in paradise and from there Jesus escorted all the inhabitants of Abraham's bosom home to heaven. EdB |
