1 | Luke 23:43 where is the thief? | Luke 23:43 | lionheart | 192988
lluvgod, Greetings and welcome to the forum. This has been a topic of some controversy in the past. One thing that can make figuring things out somewhat simpler is to realise back when the original manuscripts were written there were no verse divisions and probably no punctuation, at least not as we know it today. Punctuation has been a source of error and disagreement for years. One thing that may help when you come across passages that aren't clear is to take them in light of those that are clear regarding whatever it is you are studying out. In Him, lionheart |

2 | Luke 23:43 where is the thief? | Luke 23:43 | Iluvgod | 192990
Concerning the thief on the cross and whether or not he is in paradise. The Bible tells us numerous times that the dead in Christ will rise when Christ returns. This topic is not taken lightly to me, as all the scriptures are very important. Christ says that His people perish for lack of knowledge.I am merely asking if anyone knows if this was a error in the way the text was percieved or if Jesus meant this literally.

hello all, i have just registered for this forum and this is my first post in it. The discussion has been very thought provoking indeed. I am no authority on scriptures but as a layman, I believe that if a punctuation was altered during the translations, it had to be coming from God himself(2 Ti 3:16) as in Jesus' own words that a kingdom divided(in interpretation of the Word) itself is brought to desolation(Mt 12:25,Lu 11:17) and therefore it needs to be taken literally.I think the answer lies in believing where Jesus went that day after commending his spirit in God's hand(which, by the way, is figurative, as it seems to be, even in those final moments). But it is quite possible that Jesus could see what others could not(God's hand, for instance as I doubt that he'd converse poetically with the Almighty) and who knows for Jesus it is just a day between between the crucifixion and judgement. I hope God shows light to make us understand his way. Saved thru Him Sozo |
