1 | word of God or Word? | Luke 1:2 | Ray | 32521
I like the idea of Luke and John beginning their gospels with the word "Word". What would be the reasons for translators/interpreters to leave the word uncapitalized?
2 | word of God or Word? | Luke 1:2 | Ronaldo | 64225
Hi Ray, I will be studying up on references to "word" and "truth". I have been feeling for some time that "The Word of God" is the same as the Second Person. Jesus said that when He was speaking the Father was speaking. He said "I am the truth". Then there is the topic of the "living word" which is like a living seed. When it is planted in the heart it grows. When the word, Jesus, is received into the heart the spiritual life grows. The the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. But let me study this some more or I may be straying into some heresy. So let me get out my concordance. |

3 | word of God or Word? | Luke 1:2 | Ray | 64264
Hi Ronaldo, I speak from experience when I say that you are considering a life-long study. When you talk about the word and truth as being one of the Persons of the trinity, then you are talking about capitalization. If you are talking about a Person, you are talking about the Truth and the Word. So I would have you capitalize truth when you write "He said "I am the Truth"". But when the "word of God" is found in the Scriptures it is not talking about the second Person. In fact the Revelation 19:13 verse is the only one that I can think of, "and His name is called The Word of God." But Luke 1:2 to my mind, is speaking of the Word, of a Person, when it talks of being eyewitnesses and servants. From the heart, Ray |
