I'm not quite sure what this verse means. Could anybody please help me interpret it. taken literally, i think jesus is simply telling us that somebody's gotta do the praising 'round here. so if the ppl won't do it, the stones will. i feel that it's a funny way of looking at it so maybe i could check some other points of view. somebody pls answer soon. thanks! |

2 | what does this verse mean? | Luke 19:40 | glory777 | 9846
Yvette- I think it means that the praises given Jesus were legitimate praise. Even nature knew that Jesus was and is Messiah, King of King and Lord of Lords, the Creator. I was reading a book by Tommy Tenney in which he pointed out that while the top Jews in the Synagogue were having a church service, they heard a disturbance in the street of legitimate praise and worship and told the people to be quiet - there was church going on in the synaqogue. They were so involved in looking good to each other and acting pious that they missed God. I also think of the verse (Rom 8:22)and a lot of the chapter that points out that nature is twisted since the fall of Adam and even it recognized Jesus as Lord. HOpe this helps. Regardless, just keep on praising the Lord! Deb |

3 | what does this verse mean? | Luke 19:40 | Makarios | 9860
Hello yvette! Debbie has a good response here.. I will answer your question without the "help" of any resources whatsoever, just me and the Bible.. :) Luke 19:40.. We see the triumphal entry of Jesus coming into Jerusalem. After reading this, Jesus says, 'if these become silent'.. He doesn't say 'when' or say that they will become silent, just "if" they do- that is, if the people make the choice to become silent. Then He says, 'the stones will cry out'! In other words, there is nothing in this world that will be able to withhold the praise that is due to our Lord and Savior! This is my own interpretation of this verse, without the help of any other resources. Blessings! Nolan |

Yvette Debbie and Nolan gave good answers. Your thoughts really line up with what Nolan said and I read it that way myself. I'm not sure there is much more that can be said. I hope answers your question. |
