1 | What is Dominion Theology? | Luke 18:8 | Aspilos | 177907 | ||
Doc, even though it's impossible to know someone while communicating through a forum, I didn't really think you were trying to offer a contradiction. I was just probing for a more thorough answer and I appreciate that. I guess I'm not up on the terms today though, and thats got me wanting to ask another question. What is "Dominion Theology"? Thanks! Bendiciones! Aspilos |

Hi Aspilos, Here is a quote from Wikipedia regarding Post-Millenial Eschatology: "In Christian eschatology, postmillennialism is an interpretation of chapter 20 of the Book of Revelation which sees Christ's second coming as occurring after or post- the thousand year "millennium". Although some postmillennialists hold to a literal millennium of 1,000 years, most postmillennialists see the thousand years more as a figurative term for a long period of time (similar in that respect to Amillennialism). Among those holding to a non-literal "millennium" it is usually understood to have already begun, which implies a less obvious and less dramatic kind of millennium than that typically envisioned by premillennialists, as well as a more unexpected return of Christ. Postmillennialism also teaches that the forces of Satan will gradually be defeated by the expansion of the Kingdom of God throughout history up until the second coming of Christ." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postmillennialism) Dominion Theology describes that movement that desires to make this happen. This theology has been taught through the centuries, by a variety of churches and denominations. Here is from Wikipedia regarding Dominion Theology: "Dominion Theology is derived from the Biblical text where God grants humankind "dominion" over the Earth. It is influenced by postmillennialism, a view of the End Times which believes that godliness will eventually pervade secular society (some so-called "Golden Age postmillennialists" believe the present age will culminate in a literal one-thousand-year period of virtual heaven on earth, a millennium) before Jesus returns in a Second Coming."
