1 | Do the dead praise God? | Luke 16:23 | Searcher56 | 215073
God's day to you, humility, Another Lazarus was in Abraham's bosom, and the opposite is Hades. In Luke 23:43 Jesus told the thief that He would see him in Paradise. When we absent from the body (dead) we will be present with the Lord (2Co 5:6-8). I don't see that we will be in Heaven. Searcher |

2 | Do the dead praise God? | Luke 16:23 | humility | 215083
The rich man and Lazarus was a parable Jesus used to teach us to be faithful stewards with whatever God blesses us with, and not to neglect the "Lazarus'" of the world. The poor and needy, the lost, the hopeless, Jesus was not saying that we are judged immediately after we die. That would be contradicting what He said in (John 5:28-29). We are judged at His second-coming. Furthermore, Abraham is not in heaven,(according to Hebrews 11:39-40), nor is David (Acts 2:29-35) or the other patriarchs except Enoch, Moses, Elijah and those who raised from the dead along with our Lord, Jesus (Matt 27:51-53). Absent from the body, present with the Lord meaning, when our breath leaves our body, the next conscious thing we are going to experience is the resurrection. It does'nt say absent from the body, IMMEDIATELY PRESENT with the Lord. When God told Adam and Eve that they would surely die, did they die IMMEDIATELY after they ate the forbidden fruit? NO! But they surely did die years later! |
