1 | Lazarus, Abraham's Bosom, something else | Luke 16:22 | Morant61 | 151827
Greetings Jesus Freak! First of all, there isn't any evidence to suggest that the Lazarus in Luke 16 is the friend of Jesus by the same name in the Gospel of John. In John, Lazarus is well to do, owning his own home and hosting feasts. In Luke, Lazarus is a begger. Secondly, there is a common misconception that 'hades' is Hell. 'Hades' simply refers to the grave. In Luke 16, both the righteous Lazarus and the wicked rich man were in Hades, but neither one was in Heaven or Hell (yet)! 'Abraham's Bosom' seems to be the 'righteous' side of the grave, while the other side is reserved for the unrighteous. Your summary of 'Abraham's Bosom' is actually pretty good. It is a temporary holding place for those who, by faith, have accepted Christ. After Christ died and rose again, those in 'Abraham's Bosom' went to Heaven to be with Christ, while those in the torment side still await eternity in Hell at the judgement seat of Christ. I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Was John written in Hebrew or Greek and can I look up the meaning of words in these two languages online?(any references) and just for clarification, where does it say in John that Lazarus owned his own house or was wealthy? I probably missed it somewhere along the way but well yeah. Thank you for clarifying these thinkgs for me. This was a trial so to speak for me. I even got into a huge debate with my parents about it. I need to trust that God word is truth and nothing but the truth, no matter what I might be confused about. However, arn't I suppose to test Gods Word and reveal to myself that it is the truth. Though I already know it is, I just want to know a way to better communicate what Christianity is. I know its a relationship with the Lord but that in itself doesn't seem to get to people. Maybe I should tell people to read Gods word instead of giving it to them, or at least in some cases. I think that it might be better for alot of these people to read the source in whcih all of this information is coming from. Do think thats a good idea?
3 | Lazarus, Abraham's Bosom, something else | Luke 16:22 | Morant61 | 151842
Greetings Jesus Freak! Good afternoon! :-) John was written in Greek. For tools you might check out 'www.biblecrosswalk.com'. As for his 'wealth', John 11 seems to suggest that Mary and Martha were grieving in their house. John 12 indicates that Lazarus may have hosted the dinner mentioned, while Mary pours very expensive perfume on Jesus. So the evidence would suggest (though not conclusively) that Lazarus was a man of some means. Good luck with your studies my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
