1 | Hating your parents, what does this mean | Luke 12:51 | suzievette | 182737 | ||
I work with a man that has tried to answer this for me and I don't like his answer. I asked him to explain this to me. Luke 12:51-53 (King James Version) 51Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: 52For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. 53The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. Luke 14:26 (King James Version) 26If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. |

Greetings suzievette! Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! Allow scripture to interpret scripture and perhapes the meaning will be clearer for you. Matthew 10:37 (NASB) "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me". We must put the Lord Jesus first before all others and all other things. It should be noted as well we are to put Christ first even before ourselves (Matthew 10:38-39) Matthew 10:38-39 (NASB) 10:38 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me". 10:39 "He who has found his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake shall find it". God bless, Steve |
