Acts 10:28 gives the explanation of that vision. "Then he said to them, 'You know how unlawful it is for a Jewish man to keep company with or go to one of another nation. But God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean."

Greetings wolfrose, Acts 10 verse 10 tells us that Paul became very hungry while he was praying. He then fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet descend to earth. In this sheet were all types of 4 footed animals (both clean and unclean) of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. A voice came to him and it said: "Rise Peter, kill and eat". Peter at first refused. To him the command seemed all wrong. But then a voice came down and said "What God has cleansed you must not call common". God had previously set these dietary restrictions to keep the Israelites seperate from their idolatrous neighbors. The restrictions made it difficult for Jews to eat with Gentiles without risking defilement. This helped to keep the Jews and idolotrous Gentiles seperate. The new command abolished the OT dietary restrictions. In doing this God also made unity in the church between the Jews and the Gentiles. The above releases us from Lev 11 dietary restrictions. prayon
