1 | What animals are okay to eat? | Mark 7:15 | Makarios | 61149
Greetings Helava, Matthew 6:25 states, "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?" [RSV] Mark 7:14-22 "And he called the people to him again, and said to them, "Hear me, all of you, and understand: [15]there is nothing outside a man which by going into him can defile him; but the things which come out of a man are what defile him." [16]And when he had entered the house, and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable. [17]And he said to them, "Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a man from outside cannot defile him, [18]since it enters, not his heart but his stomach, and so passes on?" (Thus he declared all foods clean.) [19]And he said, "What comes out of a man is what defiles a man. [20]For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, fornication, theft, murder, adultery, [21]coveting, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. [22]All these evil things come from within, and they defile a man." [RSV] We can eat pigs, seafood, crab, lobster, and anything else. This is not something that will affect our relationship with God, unless we eat it with a particular unChristian motive in mind (that would lead a person astray). Blessings to you, Makarios |

2 | What animals are okay to eat? | Mark 7:15 | wolfrose | 61153
If you think about it, and put it in context, it is talking about words, not food. Matthew 5:18 "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled." It doesn't say "some laws", it means all of the law. God made us, He knows what we can or cannot eat. What makes it different now? |

3 | What animals are okay to eat? | Mark 7:15 | Makarios | 61155
Greetings Wolfrose, Did Jesus speak the words of Matthew 6:25 and Mark 7:14-22? If so, then is Jesus God Incarnate? If Jesus is the Son of God, then what does God have to say about what we should eat in Mark 7:14-22 and Matthew 6:25 as opposed to what it says in Leviticus? Does this mean that we should resume animal sacrifices for our sins? Does this mean that we should stone to death anyone who commits adultery? - Makarios |

4 | What animals are okay to eat? | Mark 7:15 | wolfrose | 61168
Matthew 6:25 is talking about faith. He continues on through the end of the chapter. Read on, especially vs 33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." Mark 7:14-22 says that it doesn't matter what we hear or eat, that won't defile us. It is what we say. "There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man" vs. 15 Jesus is one of God made flesh. John 1:1-4 He was sacrificed. What better sacrifice can we make? Our creator was sacrificed for us. As for stoning: "He who is without sin, cast the first stone" |

Mark 7:15 there is nothing outside the man which can defile him if it goes into him; but the things which proceed out of the man are what defile the man.
