1 | The "finger of God" | Mark 6:7 | Ray | 17176
One of the characteristics of Mark's writing is the use of "And" and "While" and "Then" to keep the action flowing. Here in Mark 6:7 is a place where a pronoun has been dropped from the previous copyright. No big deal one might say, but I would wonder why from among all the other "And He" occurances that this one should be dropped. I believe that "And He gave them authority over the unclean spirits." Be that as it may, here is my question. The authority over unclean spirits comes from God. Look at Exodus 8:19, Luke 11:20, and Matthew 12:28 and talk about the "finger of God". |

Ray, The pronoun is not in the original. It is put in to help us understand, the authority over unclean spirits comes from God. Steve

Hi Steve, Your answer is confusing. Here is what I am saying. l) The original NASB, 1977 copyright that is, has "And Hegave them authority...". The l995 copy has dropped the pronoun and it reads "and gave them authority..." In other words, originally they had the pronoun and now have dropped it. 2) If you are talking about the original Greek, then I would say that you can find it translated both ways depending on the Interlinear copy you choose. I agree with you that the authority over unclean spirits comes from God. What is your comment on "the finger of God?" |

Ray, "the finger of God" may be a small part of His being ... as opposed to His hand. My Interlinear doe not have the pronouns. Steve |

Hi Steve, Could it be His spirit... as opposed to His Spirit.
6 | The "finger of God" | Mark 6:7 | Searcher56 | 17312
Ray, That is possible, too. We try to paint God in human terms, and we don't do well. Steve
