Scripture ... Psa 69:8 ; Mat 12:46, 13:55; Mar 6:3; Joh 2:12; Act 1:14; 1Co 9:5; Col 4:10 ... dennymca, greetings, The word for brother (adelphos) sister is (adelphe) ... and cousin (anepsios) and used in the NT (Col 4:10). This is important because some claim Mary didn't have any other children. James (probably the author of the book of James), Joseph, Simon and Judas were children of Joseph and Mary, half-brothers of Jesus, based on Matthew 13:55 and Mark 6:3. His brothers are unnamed in Matthew 12:46, John 2:12 and Acts 1:14. His sisters are never named. One could cite another passage (1 Cor 9:5). The word used is for brother is adelphos, and adelphe is the word for sister, in each case. Also Psalm 69:8 shows that He had brothers. Hope this helps, Seracher |
