1 | Asking others for forgiveness | Mark 4:22 | In Need | 24381
I am not sure what the Bible says about asking other for forgiveness. I know that we must repent and ask the Lord for forgiveness but what if the sin affects another. If one is to comitt adultery and her spouse doesn't know but she has repented of it before the Lord, What is he responsibility to her partner? Does she need to tell him and then ask for his forgiveness as well?
2 | Asking others for forgiveness | Mark 4:22 | Makarios | 24382
Greetings In Need! Matthew 18:21-35 explains how Jesus viewed forgiveness and how we should apply that to our daily lives, even to those whom we love. Yes, I believe that if a man's wife commits adultery, then she needs to fully expose her sin to her husband, and ask for his forgiveness. "For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light." (Mark 4:22) Sooner or later, the unconfessed sin (even to the partner) will fester and become an obstacle between the husband and wife, only to create problems in the future. By confessing her sin, the wife deals with this problem squarely in the "here and now", thus offering a solution to the problem immediately, rather than letting it go on unchecked, where Satan can gain a foothold. Yes, the wife needs to be honest and truthful with her husband, and ask him for forgiveness, even after she has been totally forgiven by God. Blessings to you, Nolan |
