1 | mark 16:1- Luke 23:56 different sabbaths | Mark 16:1 | EdB | 107665 | ||
Willpower Yes he is, in the Jewish Passover there is "The Sabbath" or as John's gospel specifies the High Sabbath and also the weekly Sabbath. For Jesus to be the fulfillment of the Passover he had to die before sun down on the 14th of Nissan. For Jesus to be the fulfillment of the Passover lamb selection he had to enter Jerusalem on the 10th of Nissan which was Sunday. Therefore the High Sabbath John mentions 19:31 had to be the Nissan the 15th and the weekly Sabbath Mark mentions in Mark 16:1 which was the 6th day of the week or the 16th of Nissan. Lev 23:6-8 explains the Sabbath of Unleavened Bread which is also known as the High Sabbath or "The" Sabbath to the Jews. The fact there were two Sabbaths that week is where the confusion comes in on which day Jesus died. EdB |
