1 | proverbs 20: wine produces mockers | Mark 15:23 | lionheart | 194248
scatter, I agree a drug is a drug and I'm ratable being a recovering alcohalic of seventeen years. In the context of Mark 15:23 Jesus is not telling us to not drink wine. Granted I don't believe Jesus ever consumed anything containing alcohol and He wouldn't have taken the wine offered to Him because of the affect it would have had. He could not allow anything that would negatively impact what he had to do. The bible does not necessarily tell people not to drink but it does tell us not be drunk. Paul even tells Timothy to take a little wine for his stomach. As Christians it may be best not to drink at all. For a multiplicity of reasons. It behooves us as believers to develope deep biblical convictions. Read Romans chapter fourteen. It deals with debatable issues and this has been a highly depatable issue in allot of circles. Keep comming back. In Him, lionheart |

2 | proverbs 20: wine produces mockers | Mark 15:23 | hopalong | 194290
1 Tim 3:8 Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid gain, 1 Tim 3:9 but holding to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. Friend Lion heart, It is not my intention to be an advocate for over indugence. Rather, my desire is to warn against what could result in legalism. It is clear that Paul was warning those ,who were to select their deacons, that they not elect those who are prone to get drunk! Having been a drunk myself, I know the difference between a glass of wine with my spaghetti and a bottle of wine conumed for the sole pupose of getting loaded. You stated that a "drug is a drug", which implied that "drugs" are bad! If that is the case we should tip our hats to the Christian Sciencetists! Do you see my point? Far be it from me that I would advocate that anyone should do anything against their own conscience. But it is important to me that God's Word be rightly discerned and the fredom we have in Christ be protected. Your friend Hopalong |

3 | proverbs 20: wine produces mockers | Mark 15:23 | lionheart | 194292
Hopalong, Wasn't debating or stating that drugs are bad. That wasn't the issue being addressed. I was replying to the poster on the why Jesus refused the wine offered to him during his crucifixion. That He wasn't telling us not to drink or that to do so was wrong. 2 Timothy 2:15 absolutly vital. In Him, lionheart |

5 | proverbs 20: wine produces mockers | Mark 15:23 | lionheart | 194321
Hoppy, Me too brother. As to the rest of your post, I believe so. The post I was replying to was regarding why Jesus refused the wine offered him on the cross. The poster had made a statement that could not be supported within context of Mark 15:23. Brother you and I don't have a problem. We're Good. In Him, lionheart |
