Why is it that so many Christians divorce and re-marry? Does not Mark 10:11-12 say it is the same as committing adultery? I am a divorced woman and I need to know if it is OK to re-marry or must I remain single for the rest of my life. | ||||||

Linda1904, God's day to you. There are those who'll say that you can remarry. There is danger if we want our ears tickled and let our spirit overrule Scripture. Mat 19:1-12 says infedility was permitted grounds for divorce, becuase of the hard heart of the "innocent" person. Due 24:1-4 says if one divorced, and married again, they couldn't go back to the first spouse. 1 Cor 7:10-16 actually is the only passage on remarriage. If he wasn't a Christian and he left (initiated the divorce) you, you are free to remmary, otherwise you must remain single for the rest of your life, or remmary him. There is an expection ... if you became a Christian after the divorce, you are a new creature (2 Cor 5:17) ... 1 Cor 7:10-16 is written to believers. Remember what God said (Mal 2:13-16) ... and the reason so many Christians divorce and remarry is that they pay no heed to God's words. Searcher |
