Hi, Germie... Welcome to the forum! Amazing the kind of responses one will read to this sort of question. All the more astonishing when you are mindful of the fact that such stuff has been -- apparently -- promulgated for years. Oh that the sheep would be spared! Note that our Lord has already declared the paralytic's sins forgiven (Matthew 9:2), a source of great encouragement to the man. It also was the reason that the scribes were thinking Christ to be blaspheming (v3). After all, "Who can forgive sins, but God alone?" (Luke 5:21b) Which, is exactly who Christ is! Our Lord has the authority to forgive sins for He will be the one providing the propitiation for those sins (1 John 2:2; 4:10). So which is easier for God to achieve, He asks. To the creature both are difficult, but not to the Creator. Nonetheless, healing the maladies of the body is mere peanuts compared to healing the maladies of the soul. Both require the only source of genuine healing: divine power.
