1 | What versus talk about praying silently | Matt 6:5 | Klindad | 201466
I once read a verse that talked about (in general) when praying to God to pray within you and don't stand on the corner talking about nothing just so people will hear you (or something to that effect). Would you happen to know the verse I am referring to, or which book of the Bible talks about praying.

Dear Klindad, Welcome to the forum. You probably are looking for Matthew 6:5-15 where Jesus rebuked the Pharisees by comparing a truly repenting sinner's prayer with the hypocritical praying of the Pharisees'. Go further to v33, this verse is in echo with verse 10. However, within the context from v24 to 34, the focus was more on our faith and concern on the Kingdom of God instead of worldly needs (Col 3:1-2). James Chapter 1 as recommended by Sister Val some time earlier on the forum is helpful for our study about praying. You may also do a word search on both the "search box" and "get bible text box" at your right hand corner of the screen by typing "pray" for further study. Hope you enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |
