2 | Are discipline and sound mind the same | Matt 6:33 | Tim3:16 | 170088 | ||
Hi wendolynny, The concept of a "sound mind" has more to do with our attitude than we may realize. It takes discipline to maintain a healthy attitude in a culture that focuses on instant gratification. If our mind is sound, it is not cluttered up with the cares of this world. See Matt 6:31-34 God has not given us the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power, of courage and resolution, to meet difficulties and dangers. He has also offered the spirit of love to enrich a relationship with Him, which will carry us through trials and opposition. And also the spirit of a sound mind, which is in quietness of mind. The processes of our mind ought to start with God and end with God. We are then able to recognize the power of God and His love for us. However, maintaining a sound mind in the midst of today's society requires constant Discipline , seasoned with a positive outlook, which includes an acceptance of both the good and the bad.
