3 | Shine light, not practice righteousness? | Matt 6:1 | Makarios | 18994 | ||
Hello Steve, I do not think that this is possible- that you cannot help but to have your "righteousness" show before others while letting your light shine. But then again, how do you define "righteousness"? I define "outward righteousness" like this: your love for God and for your fellow man (Matthew 22:37-40). But if you define righteousness as being something else, such as the example of "righteousness" that the Pharisees practiced before men, then that is when we begin to dispute what righteousness means. However, according to my definition, you cannot help but to display "your righteousness" while letting your light shine. :) This may not hit the mark, but I pray that it may be close. Searcher: Was this gentle light what Stephen practiced in Acts 7 when he was full of the Holy Spirit? Just a question to provoke more discussion... --Joe! |
