Nolan, I'm sorry for the confusion. Being perfect is both a commandment and a goal. The context could be (giving the how) -loving your enemies -"you have heard it said ..." -the whole Sermon on the Mount I used the greyhound illustration to show that while it is our goal, as with the greyhounds, we can never achieve it. The dogs are given commands also ... just thought of when the box is open, it is the command to go. They are trained to obey the command and chase the rabbit. I hope I made myself clearer, Steve |

3 | Be perfect? | Matt 5:48 | Makarios | 12026 | ||
Thank you Steve, I appreciate you making this a little clearer for me. And I agree! We are trained to obey, but we just cannot be perfect here on earth, no matter how hard we try or how much we hate sin.. But it is still a honorable and worthy goal- that is, to run towards perfection!! In this way (by this process), we will show ourselves approved to our Lord (sanctification). Blessings, Nolan |
