1 | unfaithfulness the unpardonable sin? | Matt 5:32 | teragram123 | 55552
Why has Christians made unfaithfulness the unpardonable sin? Scriptures say there is only one sin that we or God do not have to forgive... yet thousands refuse to forgive their mates for unfaithfulness and than turn and marry another that has left their marriage for the same "sin"... yet they forgive them and get married. Why can't the same grace of forgiveness be given to the "wife of thy youth"? |

2 | unfaithfulness the unpardonable sin? | Matt 5:32 | kalos | 55553
NASB Matthew 5:32 but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery. Why have Christians made unfaithfulness the unpardonable sin? Because some Christians: 1) take ONE verse (Matt 5:32) out of context; 2) omit/ignore the part of Matt 5:32 that provides an exception ("except for the reason of unchastity"); 3) pretend there are no other Scriptural grounds for divorce (NIV 1 Cor 7:15 but if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances); 4) ignore the verse that says: NASB Matthew 12:31 "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven." AMPLIFIED Matthew 12:31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy (every evil, abusive, injurious speaking, or indignity against sacred things) can be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the [Holy] Spirit shall not and cannot be forgiven; and 5) do not even know the meaning of the word divorce as it was understood by all (Jews and Romans) in the First Century) 6) neglect the princple of analogia scriptura. "One of the basic principles of biblical interpretation is the analogia scriptura, the analogy of Scripture. In other words, we must compare Scripture with Scripture in order to understand its full and proper sense. And since the Bible doesn't contradict itself, any interpretation of a specific passage that contradicts the general teaching of the Bible is to be rejected. [For example,] since the general teaching of the Bible is, as we have seen, that baptism and other forms of ritual are not necessary for salvation, no individual passage could teach otherwise. Thus we must look for interpretations of those passages that will be in harmony with the general teaching of Scripture" (John MacArthur, www.gty.org/). |

Hardness of heart on every ones part! Some feel they have missed out on someone better than what they have. Jesus did not say that unfaithfullness required dirorce! Jesus basicly was saying because you wont forgive, divorce was permitted. That's how I see it. But as long as we are human we will sin, and cause sever pain to each other. agape, Justme |
