1 | what did "why have U forsaken me" mean? | Matt 27:46 | reilly1041 | 93941
Radioman2, Do you interpret Jesus' question of "why have you forsaken me" to mean that He was being abandoned by God? I have read other members of this forum state that they believe Jesus was calling attention to Psalm 22 as a last-ditch attempt to reach the on-lookers and teach them what was happening. What do you think? Thanks, reilly |

2 | what did "why have U forsaken me" mean? | Matt 27:46 | Radioman2 | 93993
Jesus did not become a sinner (as some suggest). 2 Cor 5:21 "'sin for us.' God the Father, using the principle of imputation, treated Christ as if He were a sinner though He was not, and had Him die as a substitute to pay the penalty for the sins of those who believe in Him. On the cross, He did not become a sinner (as some suggest), but remained as holy as ever. He was treated as if He were guilty of all the sins ever committed by all who would ever believe, though He committed none. The wrath of God was exhausted on Him and the just requirement of God's law met for those for whom He died." (p. 1772, MacArthur Study Bible, Word Publishing, 1997) |

This is something to think about. It was just as big of a miracle for Jesus to die as it was for Him to be rised from the dead. For the wages of sin is death...(Rom. 6:23) Jesus knew no sin, so something had to happen on the cross. I believe the moment the That Jesus said My God My GOd why has thou forsaken me" all the Sins were being placed on Him. Note I said on Him and not in Him. I believe that angels some how in the spiritiual would was going around collecting all the sins of mankind. and putting them on Jesus. Sin has never touched Jesus until that very moment the sin of the world was being cast upon Him. Sin had no hold on Him thus defeating sin and the grave could no not hold Him. The pure love of God. |
