1 | How is the date for Easter determined? | Matt 26:18 | Theoran | 146901
Just a quick question, why is the Lords ressurection being celebrated today? Based on this passage in Matthew the above events don't take place for another month, April 24th to be exact. It is written in Lev. 23 4-6 when this appointed time is. How does the Church arrive at today, March 27th. as ressurection day? Please I am very confused, please include the biblical passages in your explination. In His name, Theoran
2 | How is the date for Easter determined? | Matt 26:18 | kalos | 146903
There are no Biblical passages for when we celebrate Easter. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring equinox. (Equinox is defined as "either of the two times each year (as about March 21 and September 23) when the sun crosses the equator and day and night are everywhere of equal length".)
3 | Julian anniversary date for ressurection | Matt 26:18 | rb8 | 146906
The Jewish calendar is complicated and can vary year to year, even with an occational 13th month added. I believe it rotates on a 50 year cycle, but don't qoute me. In the actual year that our Lord died, What would have been the Julian calendar date then? An what would be the anniversary of that date today? Man, this could get involed so I'm hoping someone already knows. :-) Thank you - |
